Because Self-Care Isn't Selfish!

Holidays can be a bittersweet time of the year for many people and for many reasons. It’s no doubt that the anxiety, stress and depression that oftentimes present at this time of year can be a challenge for many even those who’ve never been “depressed” before. However, you can still enjoy the festivities and keep your headspace surplus cause that’s what we’re doing around here.

“When you say yes to others, be sure you are not saying no to yourself- Paulo Coelho"

Remembering to take care of and love yourself has profound effects on your mental well being (trust me I know!). Show yourself some LOVE! After all, who deserves it more than you? Do something nice for yourself before heading to any events or meetups for best results!

Protect your peace

DON’T overindulge in food or drink- self control is a major part of self-care

DON’T engage in talks about politics or religion

DON’T say yes when you really mean no

DON’T forget to BREATHE

  • Go for a brisk 30 minute walk if you are able to. Look at and listen to everything around you. Phone for nature pictures only! Breathe in the crisp air, exhale deeply, doing this multiple times during your walk. Works wonders for your mood!

  • Meditate, pray, converse with and show gratitude to the Creator, whatever that looks like for you. I realize now how important this is as a daily routine.

  • You could enjoy something as simple as a nice quiet cup of coffee to something as luxurious as a hot bubble bath complete with candles and music.

  • You could simply do absolutely nothing and that would be perfectly acceptable.
